Patient Safety - Covid-19


Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).   Additionally, we have implemented new changes to keep our patients and staff safe during the pandemic.


Some of these changes include:


  •  Air purification throughout the entire office.   Each operatory room will have a stand-alone air purifier unit with a medical grade (H13) HEPA filter that filters down to 0.1 micron which is the reported size of Covid-19. 

  • Bi-polar ionization Generator in our main HVAC to purify and treat air centrally.  As the air flows past the ion generator, positive and negative ions actively purify the supply air, killing mold, bacteria, and VIRUSES in addition to reducing allergens, smoke and static electricity as well as controlling odors in the air without creating ozone and other harmful products.

  • Extraoral Suction Devices  During treatment, we will be using these devices for aerosol generating procedures (expected delivery the first week of June).  These hands-free devices combine high volume of airflow (CFM) with suction power to limit the aerosols in the immediate environment.  This device is FDA approved and has a multistep filtration and sterilization process including HEPA , activated carbon filters, medical grade UV-C disinfectant and plasma sterilizer, killing 99.97% of virus and germs AT THE SOURCE. 

  • HOCL (Hypochlorous Acid) Fogging  We will be upgrading our existing infection control protocol by sanitizing/disinfecting the treatment room, immediately after thorough wipedown, using a commercial grade ultra low volume (ULV) fogger, with HOCl, a safe and effective way to kill bacteria and VIRUSES on hard surfaces and in the air.  


You may see some additional changes when it is time for your next appointment. Again, we made these changes to help protect our patients and staff: 

  • Paperless Check in  Prior to your appointment, we will be sending you an email which will have pertinent forms for you to fill out at home.  Simply fill out and email them back.  Everything will be ready to go when you come in; all you need to do is sign off on an ipad to upload it into your chart. 

  • Virtual Waiting Room  This will reduce in-person contact and help maintain social distancing during your visit.   When you arrive for your appointment, please remain in your car and reply to the text we send you, the morning of your appointment.  This will let us know that you have arrived and we will text you back when your room is ready for your appointment.   If you don’t have texting capabilities, please let us know when we are live confirming your appointment. 

  • Temperature Check  we will also be checking your temperature upon arrival with an infrared touchless thermometer.

  • Pre-rinse with 1.5% hydrogen peroxide for 20 seconds to reduce the number of microbes in the mouth before any procedure.


Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.  We will need a LIVE confirmation for every appointment to facilitate our limited schedule.  We will offer appointments first to those who can confirm their appointments live via phone.
